William Earl "Bill" Brinkley, passed to his Heavenly home Wednesday, February 14, 2024. He passed peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and family members after a battle with cancer. Bill was 94 years and one day old.
He was born February 13, 1930 to the late Willis Earl and Sarah Marie (Whitis) Brinkley in the Mark Community. Bill was a student of Shopville High before he Joined the Navy.
Bill served in the United States Navy for five years where he worked on tanker and aircraft carrier ships one of which was the USS Boxer. After his discharge, he returned to his home and rejoined his father where they worked on the dairy farm and on agricultural endeavors. On October 2, 1965 he was wed to Uma Christine Flynn of Faubush, Kentucky , She became his partner on the dairy farm and they were inseparable for the next 59 years. Bill was one of the finest men to grace this earth, he was honest and hardworking. Bill was of the Christian Faith and attended Flat Lick Baptist Church as long as his health would allow him to.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother; George Brinkley, his nephew; Kenneth Earl Wilson as well a two brothers in law; Emmett Hasty and H. G. Wilson.
Bill leaves behind his wife, Christine, three sisters; Glenda B. (Brinkley) Wilson, Wilma (Babe) Brinkley, (Linville) Hughes and Ella Jane (Janey) B. Hasty, one sister in law Justine Brinkley, his nieces and nephews; David ( Jennifer) Brinkley, Michael Hasty, Bruce (Sharon ) Wilson, George (Renee) Wilson , Mark Wilson, Gerry Lynn (Phillip) Latham, James " Jim" and Jennifer Hughes, great nephews, James Brinkley (Angie) Hughes and Jeremiah (Dessie) Hughes, great, great nephews A. J. Hughes, Colt and Cayd Hughes, and one great niece Chloe Hughes. He will be sorely missed by his family, a host of friends and the community he loved.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Flat Lick Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with Bro. Gerald Ashley and Bro. Josh Tomlin officiating.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 A.M. till time for services, burial will follow in the Bobbitt Cemetery.
