Vola Smith

Mr. Vola Smith, son of the late Jeremiah and Cora Mize Smith, was born Friday, November 22, 1929 and he departed this life on Thursday, October 5, 2017 having attained the age of 87 years.He was united in marriage to Mildred E. Blevins on December 2, 1950. She preceded him in death on April 21, 2016.Survivors include; three sons, Dillard (and Rosemary) Smith, Lynn (and Linda) Smith and Jeffery (and Susie) Smith all of Somerset; two daughters, Beverly Flynn of Bronston, and Cathy (and Greg) Suttle of Somerset; twelve grandchildren, Stacy Wells, D.J. Smith, Heather Walden, Joshua Smith, Cora Beth Smith, Summer Bullock, Miranda Brown, Hadley Bullock, Barry Flynn, Shannon Haynes, Ryan Haynes, and Tyler Haynes; fourteen great grandchildren; one step great grandchild; a sister, Opal Whitaker and a sister-in-law, Frances Smith.Other than his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by; a son-in-law, Stanley Flynn, a grandchild, Jeremy Flynn; five brothers, Riley, Lewis, Edgar, Edwin and Delma Smith; and four sisters, Lottie Phelps, Zula Mayfield, Vina Inabnitt and Beulah Smith.Vola was a christian and a long time member of the Pleasant Run Baptist Church, he enjoyed reading westerns, hunting and fishing. He worked for many years for Hinkle Construction and was a kind, hard working person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He leaves a host of relatives, friends and church family who mourn his passing.A funeral service for Mr. Vola Smith will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 9, 2017 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Mize Cemetery. The family of Mr. Vola Smith will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home after 5:00 p.m. Sunday, October 8, 2017.The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the Mize Cemetery Fund.Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family of Mr. Vola Smith During this time.
