Mrs. Vivian Barrien Owsley, age 93, Widow of Mr. Charles Owsley passed from this life on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born on January 6, 1924 in Somerset, Kentucky, daughter of the late Joseph Barrien and Katie Brock Barrien. Vivian was a graduate of the Old Dunbar High School in Somerset. She was employed for a number of years at Oakwood Rehabilitation Center. She served as Historian of the Dunbar Alumni Association and worked diligently as the Association’s historian making sure that the alumni who had moved away was updated on current events. Vivian was a vocal and outspoken woman of integrity and poise. She took pride in her community activities and was an avid reader and historian. She served as the President of the Stanford Pike Cemetery Committee and could walk thru the cemetery and tell you where everyone was buried until her health began to fail. She was a member of the Historic Davis Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church of Somerset. She will be missed by those who loved and knew her radiant smile and gallant spirit. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Owsley was preceded in death by her only daughter; Patricia B. Owsley Barnes and Son-In-law; Osrow Ed Barnes. She leaves to cherish her precious memories her grandchildren; Yolanda Barnes and Charlesetta Barnes (Roy Johnson) and her great-grandchildren; Devonte’ Barnes, Ashley Tarrence, and Chole’ Fields; great-great grandchildren; Charlesetta Davis, Nina Davis and Ashtyn Buster. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Monday, June 26, 2017 in the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home and the Funeral Services at 1:00 p.m. with Bishop Eric Barnes and Pastor Kelly Roberts officiating.
