Virginia Shepherd

Hazel Virginia Shepherd, wife of the late Dr. Millard Shepherd, passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018 in Somerset, KY having attained the age of 93 years.She was born June 20, 1924 at Alcade, KY to Gilbert and Antha Waddle. She grew up in a family of four brothers,. She was united in marriage to Millard Shepherd on November 2, 1943 and they celebrated 63 years of marriage. She is a graduate of Ferguson High School and a member of the Somerset First Baptist Church and the Sunshine Sunday School Class for many years. She was a member of the Somerset Duplicate Bridge Club and served as the director for several years. A member of the Somerset Square Dance Club, she and Dr. Shepherd organized the club in 1961 and served as president of the club several times during their membership of forty-seven years.She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brothers; Jason, Eugene, Bill, and Bob Waddle. She is survived by three daughters, Evelyn (and Tom) Godbey of Louisville, KY, Bonnie Bausch of Morehead, KY and Pamela (and Eldon) Matlick of Norman, OK. She is also survived by four grandchildren; Benjamin, and Daniel Godbey, Dr. Emily Blevins, and Jeremy  Matlick; and eight great grandchildren. She was a kind person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm , Saturday March 10, 2018. Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday March 10, 2018 at the Lakeside Memorial Gardens where interment will follow after the services.In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Gods Food Pantry, Somerset, KY.Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mrs. Virginia Shepherd.
