Vernon Tyree, age 94, of Somerset KY passed away Monday, August 29, 2022 at Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents; Jesse & Nannie Tyree of Pittsburg KY, his wife of 53 years, Eula Mae Tyree, his siblings; Ovie Tyree, Nola Yancey, Verda Doepel, Gladys Yates, Mabel Joseph, Louise Jervis, Jay J. Tyree, Donald L. Tyree and grandson; Ty Savoca. He is survived by his children; (Donna) & Bill Barnett of Somerset KY,(Dianna Savoca) of Union KY, (Kathy) & David Bair of CO, (Vernon D. Tyree) of Somerset KY,(Susie Tyree Jasper) of Bowling Green KY, brother (Eugene Tyree) of London KY. Also survived by grandchildren; (Billy) & Rebecca Barnett of Somerset KY, (Corey) & Annie Barnett of Richmond KY, (John Wesley) & Ashley Barnett of Somerset KY, (Crystal) & Todd Jenkins of Union KY, (Justin) & Heather Irwin of MO, (Joe) & ShyAnne Irwin of Elizabethtown KY, (Samantha Savoca) of WV, (Katie Bair) of CO, (Christopher) & Leslie Bair of DC, (Jonathan Bair) of WA, (Sean C. Tyree) of TN, (Allison J. Tyree) of TX, (Samuel L. Tyree) of TN, (Michael Jordan) & Morgan Sullivan of Bowling Green KY, (James Reid Sullivan) of Somerset, (Victor Chase Jasper) of Bowling Green KY, and 26 great grandchildren with another on the way. Vernon Tyree was a Veteran of The United States Navy where he served in World War ll & the Korean War. Vernon served as a mechanic & service manager at Alton Blakley Ford & Hornsby & Holt. He later joined the sales force at Cook Chrysler in Somerset KY until he retired. After retiring he went on to help his wife Eula Mae with their antique shop Tyree’s Antique’s. Vernon Tyree along with his wife Eula Mae were known in the community of Somerset during Christmas time for their extravagant Christmas decorations/party celebrations. Christmas time was always a special time for him where many memories were shared that warmed the hearts of many children, families & friends. Vernon Tyree was always known to have a twinkle in his blue eyes and always had a joke to tell everyone. Vernon was a faithful and obedient follower of Jesus. Vernon expressed how much family meant during some of his last words, “I Love My Family”. Vernon Tyree will be greatly & deeply missed by family & friends & all who loved him. Visitation and funeral services will be held at Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset, Ky. Visitation will be held September 6, 2022 from 6pm-9pm. The funeral will be held the next day on September 7, 2022 at 11am. In lieu of flowers the family requested that expressions of sympathy may be taken in the form of donations in memory of Vernon Tyree’s memorial at The Veterans Memorial Park. Donations can be made out to SPEDA Community Foundation and mailed to 306 East Mt. Vernon Street, Suite 306 Somerset, KY 42502. Please indicate on donation in honor of Vernon Tyree.
