Mr. Verne J. Wright, son of the late Oscar Lee and Geneva Roark Wright was born at Mt. Victory, KY on August 20, 1927 and he departed this life November 20, 2024 having attained the age of 97 years.
Survivors include two children, Mark Wright and Diana Wright both of Mt. Victory, KY, a special friend Addison Mounce ; three brothers, Donald Lee, L.V. and Ronnie Wright; and four sisters, Hazel Mae Wright Flannigan, Sue Curtis, Delatha Wright and Carolyn Turner.
Verne was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church and he also attended the Mt. Victory Christian Church. Verne served his country through service in the United States Navy . He served in both World War II and the Korean Conflict. Verne enjoyed history, fishing and sitting on his porch watching the world go by.
He was a retired teacher having served more than 30 years of service. He taught at the Saline School, the Garner School, the Mt. Victory School, The White Lily School and ended his tenure with the Shopville School System. He held several educational degrees having attended Pepperdine College, Campbellsville College, Eastern Ky University, and the University of West Virginia, Berkley. He also had the opportunity of teaching abroad in London, England.
Verne was a kind soul who loved spending time with family and friends, he will be deeply missed by all who knew him and he leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Monday, November 25th, 2024 at the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Couch and Minister Vince Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Goodwater Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. Monday until time for services. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post Number 38.
