Verna Lucille Hammond, 85, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away on Monday, January 12, 2025 at The Neighborhood.
She was born on August 7, 1939, daughter of the late Bradsford and Cynthia Abbott. She was of the baptist faith, and retired as the activity director at Midtown Nursing Home. She was a kind and loving person, who had a heart of gold, and expressed her true love to everyone in her presence. She was not just a mother to her children, but many others throughout the years. She was an excellent cook, and enjoyed cooking especially for her family.
She is survived by her son, Raymond Lee Hammond; two special nieces, Linda & (Dennis) Dick and Theresa & (Robert) Cox; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Charles Dudley who died on June 30, 2012; a daughter, Debra Kay who died on July 13, 2023; a son Gary Wayne who died in infancy; three brothers, Oscar, Earl, and Eugene; and three sisters, Ida Bell, Berniece, and Faye.
A funeral service will be held at 12 PM Monday, January 20, 2025 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Billy Miller officiating.
Burial will be in Grave Hill Cemetery.
The family will receive friends after 11 AM Monday, January 20, 2025 until time for services.
