Thelma Mae Meece

Thelma Mae Meece, 93, passed away Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Cumberland Nursing & Rehab.

She was born in the Acorn Community on February 12, 1928; daughter of the late Wildrew and Nova Childers Cottongim. She was a homemaker serving her home in many different capacities and raising her children. She was a rock to her family, and her community, always prepared to help others during their time of need. She enjoyed quilting, gardening, and baby sitting. She was a faithful follower of Christ, serving her church, Cedar Grove Baptist Church throughout the years as a Clerk, Teacher, and Janitor.

She is survived by her two children, David & (Patty) Meece, and Beverly Sears; a special son-in-law, Larry Strunk; a brother, Gary & (Thelma) Cottongim; grandchildren, Kim Meece, Scott Meece, Misty Strunk, Erica & (Andy) Hatter, Trent Sears, Kisha & (Waylon) Burton, Reuben Sears & (fiancé, Angela Russell), and Brandon & (Ashonda) Sears; a host of great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Thomas Meece; a daughter, Linda Strunk; a son, Charles Meece; a son-in-law, Bruce Sears; siblings, Edzel Cottongim, Dorwin Cottongim, Leroy Cottongim, Ruby Hinkle, Mary Tarter, Sthelma Haynes, two grandchildren who died in infancy, Jerome Tyler Sears, and Stephanie Sears; two great-grandchildren, Raylynne Davis, and Jerome Sears.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of Hospice of Lake Cumberland and Cumberland Nursing & Rehab, in keeping with Thelma's tradition the family wishes to send hugs and kisses.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Kevin Payne, Bro. Roger Prewitt, and Bro. Rick Lawson offiating.

Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 PM Monday, July 12, 2021 at Pulaski Funeral Home.
