Shirley Harris

Shirley May (Mink) Harris, age 86, of Somerset passed away Saturday, March 8, 2025 at her residence.

She was born on August 29, 1938; to the late Arthur and Ella (Whitaker) Mink in Public, Kentucky.

Shirley was united in marriage to Kenneth Harris on August 11, 1955 in London, Kentucky, they have been able to celebrate 65 wonderful years. She enjoyed working as a dairy and tobacco farmer alongside her husband for 45 years until health declined. She enjoyed reading, singing, and tending to her flowers. She was a member of Sinking Valley Baptist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Harris; children, Darwin & (Lisa) Harris and Delana Harris both of Somerset; granddaughter, Shelbie Harris of Somerset; sisters, Betty Cox of Goose Creek, SC., Wilda Poff of Ocala, FL., Barbara Burdine of Plainfield, In., and Margie Flatt of Somerset; brothers, Don Mink of Indianapolis, IN., Morris Mink, Conley Mink, and Dennis Mink all of Somerset; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Ella Mink; and an infant sister, Ruby Mink.

A graveside service will be held at 3:30 PM Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at Harris Family Cemetery with Bro. Kevin Bullock officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
