Mrs. Phyllis Latham Gibson, of Somerset, Kentucky left her physical life to begin her heavenly life on Thursday, December 12, 2019. She was born July 28, 1936 making her 83 years old. In her 83 years, she lived every day to the fullest and never took a day for granted. She had many hobbies which included crafting and making special gifts for her loved ones, learning about her ancestors and genealogy and spending time with all of her family, friends and church family that she cherished so much. She worked many years at Corder's Jewelry in addition to her full time position as a homemaker, all of which she excelled at. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Somerset and enjoyed every second she was able to spend with her friends and church family on trips, outings and services.
She was the daughter of the late George and Delta Troxell Latham, who preceded her in death.
She married the adoring man she called her husband, Mr. Clifton James Gibson, on February 6, 1953. They were married for 58 years when he preceded her in death on Sunday, March 6, 2011.
She is rejoicing in heaven with the loved ones that preceded her in death, which include: her husband, James, her son Jim and the following siblings; Grace, Juanita, Edna, David, Jackie, Freddie and Ralph.
Those left to honor and cherish her memory include: two daughters, Tana (and Billy) Tarter of Nancy, Kentucky, Jenny Miller of Somerset, KY; five grandchildren, Stephen Grundy, Jerree (and Jason)Humphrey, Jessica (and Rob) Simpson, James R. (and Jessi) Perkins, Ashley Meeks and the following great grandchildren, Brandon and Reagan Humphrey, Zachary Marlow, Kadence and Emmalee Simpson, Seth James Grundy, Riley and Finley Perkins as well as Weston and Sadie Jo Meeks; and one loving sister, Betty Wells. There are a host of other relatives and special loved ones that are also going to miss her and cherish their memories of her.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation and gratitude to the nurses of Hospice of Lake Cumberland for the love and care that was given to both she and her family during her stay.
Funeral Services will be held at Pulaski Funeral Home on Saturday December 14, 2019, visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and the funeral will follow at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Pisgah Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
