Onvie Van Hook

Onvie Venes Van Hook, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at the age of 84. He was born in Ruth, KY on February 5, 1939 to the late Bertha & Joseph Siah Van Hook as the youngest of 14 children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Norma Jean (Meece) Van Hook; and 6 brothers and 5 sisters.

He is survived by 3 children, Onvetta (Dale) Herrin, of Indiana; Barbara Lowery, of Kentucky; and Gary (Mary) Van Hook, of Kentucky; a very special honorary daughter, Mary Sears; 2 sisters, Jessie Carlton, of Indiana; and Wanda Fuqua, of Indiana; 9 grandchildren, Tracy Bradley, Lisa Ramos, Kristy Roberts, Brian Lowery, Kelsey Lowery, Jamie Sams, John Phelps, Autumn Van Hook, and Scott Tomlinson; and several great-grandchildren and a few great-great grandchildren.

Onvie was of the Christian faith and served several years as Deacon at Cumberland Baptist Church. He worked as a farmer, drove a school bus for many years, and worked at Coca-Cola. He was a loving father and devoted husband with a kind heart to all.

Visitation will be on Monday, May 1, 2023, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Pulaski Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Tim Ogle officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, KY 42503.
