Mr. Louie Ray Vanhook, age 84, of Somerset, passed away Tuesday, October 30, 2018 in Lexington, KY. Louie was born at Ano, KY on September 17, 1934 to the late Robert L. "Bob" Vanhook and Edna Hamlin Vanhook. He was a member of Burnside First Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was also a past Deacon at the Northside Baptist Church. He loved southern gospel music, going to Young at Heart and Senior Friends and Helping Neighbors in Cedar Cove. Louie always said "Love is the greatest in the world." He worked at A & P Grocery, Kroger, and he retired from Citizens National Bank after 35 years of service. He also was the owner and Developer of Cedar Cove Estates.Louie was married to Ethel Mae Loveless Vanhook for 60 years, she preceded him in death. He was later wed to Barbara Dalton Shepherd Vanhook on June 27, 2015, she survives. Other survivors include; two daughters, Peggy (and Billy) Dancy of Somerset, KY; and Debbie (and Tony) Stringer of Lexington, KY; a grandson, Tyler Stringer (and Ashley Turner) of Lexington, KY and a great grandchild, Kaydence Stringer of Lexington, KY. the following stepchildren, Ron (and Julie) Shepherd, & Sherri Arthur; step grandchildren, Nathan (and Millie) Arthur, Morgan (and Eric) Bumgardner, Darron (and Miranda) Shepherd, and Jacob Shepherd; step great grandchildren, Joshua and Caleb Arthur; the following brothers, Edwin (and Wilma) Vanhook, and Venson Vanhook one sister, Eulene Zimmerman; sisters-in-law, Eula Vanhook, and Wanda Dick, and a special friend, Bob Willis, and a host of nieces nephews and other relatives.Other than his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Hoover and Curtis Vanhook; and three sisters, Elva Chaney, Irene Yeary and Era Belle Bales. A funeral service for Mr. Vanhook will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 3, 2018 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Richard Christian and Bro. Rick Watson officiating.
