Obituary for Melinda “Mendy” Childers

Nancy Melinda “Mendy” Childers age 57, of Eubank, passed away at her residence on Thursday, April 21, 2022. She was born in Chattanooga, TN on September 22, 1964, daughter of Gerald & Sheilah “Cookie” Childers.
She is survived by her parents, Gerald and Sheilah “Cookie” Childers; her twin brother Jerry (and Becki) Childers and nephew Jerrod Childers.
Other survivors include uncles Howard “Butch” Morris and Dr. William “Billy” (and Vicki) Childers. Aunts Mary Morris, Ginny Morris, Linda Saffles and Charlene Childers.

Cousins: Dana (and Jami) Warren, Claudette (and John) Prather, LeeAnn (and Bryan) Wells, Angela Wilson, Lori (and Toby) King, Ryan (and Tara) Childers, Michael ( and Emily) Childers, Wesley (and Sarah) Childers, Jennifer (and Tony) Lucido, Kelcy Morris, Jeff Morris and Wendy (and Scott) Whittle.
Special Friends: Bill (and Amy) Joseph, JoAnn McCarty and Lois Simpson.

Mendy is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Raymond and Ida Lee Means Morris, paternal Grandparents William and Lela King Childers, Uncles Clifford “Cliff” Childers and Raymond “Brother” Morris. Aunt Mittie Carol Childers Shepperd.

Mendy attended West Somerset Baptist Church in Somerset as long as her health allowed. She was a graduate of Somerset Educational Center. Mendy currently attended Medical Active Day Center up until her passing. Mendy loved attending Horseshows watching her twin brother Jerry and nephew Jerrod show. She also attended on a regular basis The Somernites Cruise Shows where she loved looking at the many cars and trucks she saw. Coloring was her favorite pass time as she would enjoy sharing with all that knew her. This was one of her ways of showing her love to others.

The family would like to show their appreciation to the many medical professionals and especially Dr.Dale Goodin and Sharon Adams.

A funeral service will be held for Nancy Melinda “Mendy” Childers at Pulaski County Funeral Home located in Somerset. Visitation will be held on Tuesday April 26th, 2022 from 5 to 9 pm with family beginning at 5 pm. Services will be held Wednesday April 27th, 2022 at 1pm with Bro. Larry Butte and Bro. Bruce Blevins officiating. Burial will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will include: Jerry Childers, Michael Childers, Wesley Childers, Ryan Childers,  Jami Warren, Bill Joseph, Logan Joseph.
Honorary Pallbearers Jerrod Childers, Dr. William “Billy” Childers and Howard “Butch” Morris.

Family request is lieu of flowers that donations be made to Kingtown Cemetery Fund c/o Nona Beneki 120 Sagasser St. Somerset, KY 42501.
