Mary Lou Kearns, age 73, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from her earthly life into eternal life with her heavenly father on Saturday, March 13, 2021. Mary Lou was born on June 29, 1947 in Somerset, Kentucky to the late Leslie Eggers and Juanita Vaughn Eggers.
She is survived by her husband of forty-nine years, Bernie Kearns; two daughters, Gina & (Chuck) Gibson and Jennifer Kearns both of Lexington; Mary Lou is also survived by her mother, Juanita Eggers of Somerset; one brother, Ronnie & (Susie) Eggers of Cheviot, OH; and three sisters, Janice & (Alton) Barron, Shirley & (Larry) Hamilton, and Sally & (Barry) Daulton all of Somerset.
She also leaves behind a number of nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews whom she loved and cherished like children and grandchildren. One special niece, Rhonda Nelson who often helped care for her during her five-year battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her father, Leslie Eggers.
Mary Lou was a member of First Christian Church of Somerset. She loved her savior Jesus Christ and her church family. She missed not being able to attend church in person for the past year. Mary Lou had a great love for all the youth at First Christian and often said, "I miss seeing my kids at church."
She was a homemaker and worked in accounting and bookkeeping for thirty plus years before becoming ill. She enjoyed flower gardening and being outside. She loved vacations with family to the beach in Florida, and game night with food and large crowds of family and friends.
Pallbearers will be nephews, Dale Barron, Steven Hamilton, Ricky Hamilton, and Brandon Daulton; as well as great nephews, Connor Nelson, Chandler Nelson, and Chase Nelson; and a cousin, David Eggers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the First Christian Church Youth Fund or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the First Christian Church of Somerset with Bro. Clyde Strunk officiating.
Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends after 11:00 AM Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at the First Christian Church until time for services.
