Mary A. Mounce

April 14, 1920 — February 9, 2021

Mary Mounce, age 100, passed away on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 with family by her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Josiah and Nora Hargis Stogsdill; her husband of 57 years Carvel Mounce; four sons, Deward, Barry, Edgar, and Joseph; three sons-in-law, Arlen Blanton, Ted Szlachta and Johnny Guyzik.


Mary is survived by her remaining seven children, Betty Guyzik, Georgia Szlachta, Frances (Jim) Balentine, Sharon (Ron) Kilgore, James (Barbara) Mounce, Doris Donati (Keny), Janice (Jim) Bullock; her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

Mary was a member of the Sinking Valley Church where she enjoyed worshipping God with her Christian family. She truly was a prayer warrior, if you ever had the privilege of praying with her, you felt the power of the holy spirit surrounding her words. She was an inspiration to everyone she met. She loved her family and spending time with them. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and their children. She enjoyed singing, dancing, working in her vegetable and flower gardens, canning and quilting.

A funeral service will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, February 15, 2021 at the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Jason Ivey and Tim Renner officiating.

Burial will follow in the White Lily Cemetery.

The family of Mary Mounce will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 12:00 noon Monday, February 15th until time for services.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Lake Cumberland for their care during this time.
