Martha Sue "Marcy" Selvidge, 79, of Prospect, Kentucky, passed away Friday, February 2, 2024 at Rivers Edge Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born January 5, 1945 as the second daughter to Betty & Robert Selvidge at Baptist Hospital in Louisville, KY. Initially, she had red hair, but it was soon replaced by blonde curls! When Marcy was just a few weeks old, the family moved to an apartment in Fincastle Heights where she lived for nine years. When she and her sister, Diane, visited Burnside, relatives always commented when seeing the two of them together; "a little Betty and a little Bob" - because Marcy had blonde hair and blue eyes like their mom and Diane had dark hair and eyes like their dad. Marcy's two closest playmates when she was young were little boys and she was very much a "tom boy." She played baseball and had a cowboy hat and guns. She attended Camp Taylor Elementary School through fourth grade and then transferred to Prestonia Elementary, and from there, to Durrett High. In high school, she played the drums in the band.
After graduation from high school, she enrolled in the University of Louisville, where she earned a BS degree in biology. She had a student job in the physical education department. After graduation, she worked in labs at the University of Louisville. Marcy had a very good sense of humor and wrote with great wit, including very funny letters. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed music, art, and reading. She played golf in college and continued to enjoy watching the sport.
She is survived by her sister, Diane Silver. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Private services will be held.
Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
