Margaret Wells

Margaret Lee Meece Wells, age 83 of Somerset, Kentucky passed away peacefully September 21, 2019 at Somerwoods Nursing Home with her daughter, Pamela, and son-in-law, Gary Woodall by her side when she went home to be with Jesus. She had recently stated numerous times how she was ready to go see ‘Jesus and Tommy’, her husband.

She loved animals and in her younger adult years often had numerous goats, chickens, dogs and cats on their small farm in White Lily. Many times during her last days she would express to the care givers at Somerwoods Nursing Home how she had to go back home to take care of the goats and chickens. And there were those times she’d try to sneak away to do just that!

Margaret was born in Somerset, Kentucky on November 29, 1936; youngest child of seven to James Charlie ‘Yanktom’ and Mary B Richardson Meece. Both parents preceded her in death.

Her brothers and sister also preceded her in death: Vola (Nettie), Earnest (Cora), Ralph (Nina), Clarence (Marie), Claude (Vertie) and sister Eva (Arvis Sinclair).

Margaret grew up in the Backwoods of Mt. Victory, Kentucky then later her family moved to a small home in the White Lily community. She attended the one room school at White Lily and later Shopville High School. She obtained her CNA licenses and enjoyed a career working in the home health industry and local nursing homes.

She was married to Thomas Wells of Nancy, Kentucky. They enjoyed raising animals and working their garden and fishing.

Margaret is survived by a large number of nieces, nephews, her daughter, Pamela Richards Woodall and husband Gary Woodall. Their son, Jonathan, his wife Crystal and their two children, Jacob and Harlie. Also two step grandsons, Jamie and Jason Mercer.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the care of the staff at Somerwoods Nursing Home in Somerset, Ky.

Visitation for Margaret will be held at Pulaski Funeral Home on Friday, September 27, 2019 at 5:00-8:00 PM; and after 10 AM Saturday, September 28, 2019 at White Lily Baptist Church, until time for funeral services.

In honor of Margaret's life, everyone is encouraged to wear your University of Kentucky Basketball attire!

Funeral will be held at White Lily Baptist Church on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 11:00 AM with burial following in the White Lily Cemetery.
