Margaret Eunice Flynn- Rogers was born on June 14, 1923 to Cleo and Lillie Harris Davis of Burnside, Kentucky. Margaret was the beloved wife of the later Herman Flynn, of Burnside, KY, devoted mother of Brenda Joyce Grothaus (Ken), Cincinnati, Ohio, dear grandmother of Amy Papania, (Reed), Lawrenceburg, IN, and Jeffery Grothaus, (Gina) of Maple Grove, Mn. Loving great grandmother of Max (Emily), Maggie (Al), Mitchell (Sydney) and Mason (Anna) Bischoff and Jack and Casey Grothaus, and great great grandmother to Vincent Scott Fein as well as the dear aunt of Jane Wallen, Jennifer Davis and Rick Hyllton , Jill (Gary) Allen of New Castle, IN, Betty Kaye (Randall) of Somerset, KY. and Special Niece Jean Combs (Doug), Waynesburg, KY.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Lillie Harris Davis of Burnside, KY, her sisters Katherine Thompson and Pauline Godby, Somerset, KY, her brothers, Clarence Davis, Burnside, KY and Woodrow Davis of Ocala, FL. Margaret lived in Cincinnati and worked 15 years at Zieglers Linen Supply Company as a bookkeeper before coming back to Burnside. Margaret and Herman opened and operated the landmark Flynn"s Gift Shop for 30 years. Margaret was known for her custom framing, flower arrangements and specialty decorating. Herman passed away shortly after closing the store in 1991. Margaret was a member of the Lake Cumberland Garden Club, President of the Burnside Civic Club, she was a teacher in Porcelain China and a member of the Somerset China Club and World Organization of China Painters. In 1997 Margaret married the late Harry Rogers.
She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and sang in the choir for 22 years. She was devoted to her church and her faith. Margaret was a very giving person and found much joy in helping others. She enjoyed cooking and having large groups in for fun and fellowship. After going through open heart surgery and several broken bones in her back, she moved into The Neighborhood of Somerset. In 2016 Margaret moved to Cincinnati to be close to her family. She lived at Mercy Health West Park where she was very happy and made many new friends. Margaret kept her family close to her heart and was a dear friend to all who knew her. We will miss her greatly.
The family will receive friends at Oak Hill Baptist Church Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM with burial to follow in the Burnside Cemetery.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be given to the Oak Hill Baptist Church or the American Heart Association.
