Margaret Eleanor "Peg" (Puff) Harris passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, in Somerset, Kentucky. She was 84.
Peg celebrated 65 wonderful years of marriage to Laurence Harris last month. Their love story began as students at Oswego State Teachers College, now known as the State University of New York at Oswego. They were married Feb. 20, 1960, at St. Barnabus Roman Catholic Church in Bellmore, New York, and started their life together in Vestal, New York. They soon welcomed children Sandra, David, Patricia, Daniel and William, raising their family in Owego, New York, before relocating to Little Meadows, Pennsylvania. Peg and Larry retired to Monticello, Kentucky in 2004.
Born June 6, 1940, in North Bellmore, New York, Peg was the daughter of Albert W. and Margaret (Bredekamp) Puff, Sr. She was actively involved in Girl Scouts during her youth and graduated from Wellington C. Mepham High School, Bellmore, New York in 1958. After her marriage, Peg dedicated herself to raising her family with love and devotion. Like her mother, her artistic talents were exquisitely expressed through quilting, ceramics, crafts, sewing and oil painting. Her home was filled with her creations, and she lovingly gifted her family with many beautiful items. In the end, when Peg's pacemaker was donated to a dog in need, it not only extended her legacy but also provided a life-saving solution, further enriching her impact beyond her own lifetime.
Peg is survived by her husband Larry, daughter Sandra (Stephen) Figuerado, Round Rock, Texas, and sons David (Patricia) Harris, Cleveland, New York; Daniel (Ina) Harris, Farmington, Connecticut; and William Harris, New Albany, Pennsylvania; grandchildren Christopher (Debra) Williams, Mons, Belgium, and Paul Harris and Kelly Harris, both Farmington, Connecticut; and brothers Albert W. (Diane) Puff Jr., Hereford, Arizona, and Richard (Lynn) Puff, Cincinnati, Ohio. Additionally, she is survived by Kristin Figuerado and her children, Maura and Kaleb, Binghamton, New York. Peg was predeceased by her parents and daughter Patricia.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff of Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, CHI Saint Joseph Health, London and Hospice of Lake Cumberland for their compassionate care during Peg's final weeks.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Interstitial Cystitis Association (https://www.ichelp.org/).
