Lester B Walker, 78, of Somerset, Kentucky passed away Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.
He was born in Mayflower, Kentucky on August 28, 1940; son of the late Woodrow Wilson and Faye Marie Lowe Walker. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Somerset, where he sang in the Senior Choir, and attended the Glen Gover Sunday School Class. Lester was a Rail Road Conductor for CSX where he worked for 40 years until his retirement. He was the local chairman of the UTU for the Rail Road. He was very proud of his daughters and his grandchildren; he also enjoyed traveling with his wife.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Geraldine Coleman Walker, whom he married on October 11, 1965; two daughters, Rebecca & (John) Shaffer of Lavergne, TN; and Amy & (Joe) Scull of Somerset; two grandchildren, Maddie Shaffer, and Joseph Williams; three brothers; and three sisters.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Mark Lester Walker who passed away in infancy; and three sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 12 PM Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Somerset with Bro. Chris Basil officiating.
Burial will be in Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
Visitation for Mr. Lester B Walker will be after 10 AM Thursday, September 27, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church of Somerset.
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to First United Methodist Church, or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
