Lela K. Childers

Lela King Childers, age 94 of Somerset, KY passed from this life Tuesday, December 24th at Someret Nursing and Rehab. She was surrounded by her family who loved her very much.Lela was born September 19, 1925 to the late Mittie Gooch King and Rev. Burl King in McCreary County, KYLela was a faithful member of the West Somerset Baptist Church up until her health started to decline. Before coming to Somerset, Lela taught in a one room school in McCreary County. After moving to Somerset she began her career at General Electric Glass Plant where she began as a line inspector and retiring as a shift coordinator in 1986.Lela was a devoted Christian lady being a friend to everyone she met. She always saw the best in people.Lela was preceded in death by her parents,; her husband. William "Bill" Childers; seven brothers and six sisters; a son, Clifford "Cliff" Childers; a daughter, Mittie Shepperd; along with several nieces and nephews.She is survived by; two sons, Gerald (and Cookie) Childers of Eubank, KY; Dr. William "Billy" (and Vicky) Childers of Versailles, KY & daughter-in-law, Charlene Childers; eleven grandchildren, Jerry (and Becky) Childers, Mendy Childers, Dana (and Jamie) Warren, Claudette (and John) Prather, Leeann (and Bryan) Welles, Angela Wilson, Lori (and Toby) King, Ryan (and Tara) Childers, Michael (and Emily) Childers, Wesley (and Sarah) Childers, and Jennifer (and Tony) Lucido; and fourteen great grandchildren, Jerrod Childers, Brittany (and Landen) Brown, Haley (and Michael) Lee, Jackson Prather, Whitlee Brinson, Ashton Welles, Conner and Ava King, Landry Wilson, Reagan Rhett and Reed Childers, Savannah Lucido and Henry Childers along with many nieces, nephews who she loved as her own.The family is eternally grateful to her beloved granddaughter Dana for the devotion and dedication throughout her life, also to the staff of Somerset Nursing and Rehab for the love and care shown to Lela and her family.A funeral service for Lela Childers will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2019 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Burial to follow in the Kingtown Cemetery at Strunk, KY.The family of Lela Childers will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home after5:00 pm.
