Mr. Kenneth Shelton Hargis, son of the late James and Florence Mounce Hargis, was born at Ruth, KY on September 5, 1929 and he departed this life on April 23, 2018 having attained the age of 88 years.
Ken was a Deacon at the Piney Grove Baptist Church #1 and adult Sunday School Teacher for many years. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a farmer, barn builder, and volunteer fireman. He was instrumental is starting the White Lily Volunteer Fire Department, where he served many years. He also served in the Kentucky National Guard for six years.
Ken is survived by his wife of 67 years, Audrey B. Meece Hargis; one daughter, Lynn & (Bro. David) Harmon of Somerset; two grandchildren, Keri (and Arin) Mackay of Latonia, KY and Kendra (and Butch) Tincher of London, KY; three great grandchildren, Trace Mackay, Barrett Mackay, and Jakob Mackay; a sister, Beverly Hargis Burton of Somerset, KY.
Othe than his parents, Ken was also preceded in death by; a son, James Ralphburn Hargis who died in infancy, two brothers and sisters-in-law, Orville & Joyce Hargis, and Howard & Faye Hargis; one brother-in-law, Lowell Dee Burton.
A funeral service for Kenneth Shelton Hargis will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 26th, 2018 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Donald Kennedy and Bro. Charles Meece officiating.
Burial will follow in the Clay HIll Cemetery.
The family of Mr. Kenneth Shelton Hargis will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home after 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 25th, 2018.
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of Sympathy Take the form of contributions to the Piney Grove Baptist Church #1 building fund, or Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
