Johnny Brent Fitzpatrick

October 7, 1955 — August 14, 2024

Johnny Brent Fitzpatrick, born in Somerset, John was the elder son of Bill (deceased) and Lida Fitzpatrick. He was a 1973 graduate of Somerset High School, where he excelled in creative writing and music. A talented trumpeter, he was often requested to play taps at military funerals and remembrances.

He attended Western Kentucky University, and for many years worked alongside his father at Bill Fitzpatrick Bookkeeping and Tax Service in Somerset and Monticello. He volunteered to lead the youth choir at Beacon Hill Baptist Church, where as a child he was the first person baptized in their first permanent building.

John was a devout Christian, regularly sharing messages of encouragement to his friends. He was a member of Bayside Community Church in Bradenton, Florida, where he was active in a men’s group and volunteered in numerous activities.

John is survived by his mother, Lida Fitzpatrick, his brother, Scott, sister-in-law Donna Jo, nephew Riley and niece Kirby. He is also survived by his beloved aunt Jane Rose and uncle Rodger Rose, his cousin Sarah Rose, uncle Ray Stines and aunt Joyce Stines, cousins Steven Stines, Beth Walker and John Stines, uncle Richard (Buddy) Fitzpatrick and aunt Betty Fitzpatrick, and cousin Rick Fitzpatrick.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made in his memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).

Friends of the family are invited to a visitation at Pulaski Funeral Home on Saturday, August 24 from 1:30 – 2:30 pm.
