Johnnie "Cecil" Marcum

Mr. Johnnie "Cecil" Marcum, 97, of Somerset, KY passed restfully in New Tazwell, TN on November 24, 2018.He was born December 29, 1920 to the late Barrett and Lectia Burton Marcum.Survivors include; one daughter, Connie Whitmire; one son, Johnnie (and Renee) Whitmire; six grandchildren, Jeffery, Renee, Natalie, Greg, Melissa and Allison; one sister, Betty McGurrin, one brother, H.B. (and Patsy) Marcum; a special friend, Rand Parker, several nephews and nieces and a host of other relatives and friends who mourn his passing.Other than his parents and 13 brothers and sisters, he was also preceded in death by a daughter, Betty Whitmire,  and a brother-in-law, Joe McGurrin.Cecil grew up on the farm with his 15 brothers and sisters and he was an Army  veteran of World War II. He will be remembered as a good friend, an avid hunter and fisherman and always known and loved for his practical jokes. A special thank you goes out to the staff of Diversicare of Claiborne for their kindness and caring for Cecil in his final years. A funeral service for Mr. Johnnie Cecil Marcum will be held at 12:00 noon Thursday, November 29, 2018 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Joe Neikirk officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery at Nancy, KY.The family of Mr. Johnnie "Cecil" Marcum will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until time for services.Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be serving the family of Mr. Johnnie "Cecil" Marcum at this time.
