John Gaston Powell, beloved husband of Nancy Waters Powell, and father of Dr. John William Powell (Shannon), Kaity Woods (Tim), and Lyndsie Janbakhsh (Michael), passed away on Tuesday afternoon September 12, 2023. He was surrounded by his loving family during his final moments.

Born and raised in Monticello, Kentucky, John was a proud alumnus of Monticello High School. He pursued higher education at Auburn University, where he furthered his passion for pharmacy. John dedicated many years of his life to serving his community as a pharmacist at CVS (formerly SuperX and Revco) in Somerset, Kentucky. His commitment to his profession and his fun nature touched the lives of countless individuals.

John's legacy extended beyond his career, as he was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He leaves behind a lasting impact on his family, including his adored grandchildren: Andrew and Allie Woods, as well as Charlotte, Jack, and Caroline Powell.
John Gaston Powell will be remembered for his witty dry humor, love of old movies, passion for boating and fishing, and above all his love for his family. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, September 16th at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Butte officiating. 

The family of Mr. John Gaston Powell will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time for services.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made to the John Powell Memorial Fund. Donations may be made to Somerset First UMC through the following link: https://somersetfumc.churchcenter.com/giving.
