John David Sears

John David Sears, age 74, of Somerset, KY, passed away on Saturday May 16, 2020 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He died of continuing heart issues. He will be missed by many lifelong friends. John David was married to Betty L. Sears on April 18, 1992, In Somerset. He was an employee of the state of Kentucky where he served as Human Services Compliance Analyst Supervisor. He traveled the region checking all data stats for group homes and offices to insure they were compliant with state guidelines. He made many long lasting friends from traveling the state. He had a passion for assisting the state with job placement for troubled youth. He played golf until recent years, was a boat enthusiast, and was a lifelong Democrat. He is survived by his wife Betty Sears of Somerset; one daughter, Shan Audra Sears; one brother, Leonard Wilson Sears, Jr. and Wilson’s wife Brenda; a step-daughter Tiffany Keith and Tiffany’s husband, Dale Keith; two grandchildren, Elijah Thomas Eastham and Hattie Mae Keith. He is also survived by a niece, Jan Andrea Brandenburg of Irvine, KY; four nephews, Leonard Wilson Sears, III of Nashville, TN, Joe David Sears of Baltimore, MD, Jay Stewart Sears of Charlotte, NC and James Matthew Sears of Lexington KY; and his loyal dog Goldie. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother Jim Andy Sears; one niece, Terry Lynn Richardson; and his beloved late dog and constant companion, Black Jack. A private service will be held at Pulaski Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 with live streaming of the service beginning at 1:00 p.m. on the facebook page of Pulaski Funeral Home. A private interment will be held Thursday morning May 21, 2020 at Mill Springs National Cemetery.
