Joel David Blevins

Mr. Joel David Blevins, son of the late Robert Curtis and Elta Mae Godsey Blevins, was born May 09, 1948 in Somerset, KY and he departed this life Wednesday, March 20, 2019 having attained the age of 70 years. He was united in marriage to Mrs. Marilyn Yahnig Blevins. She survives.Other survivors include; one son, Rhon Alan Blevins; three brothers, Jackie, Larry (and Rhonda Elliott) and Bobby Gene Blevins all of Somerset; three sisters, Patsy Burkett, Peggy Meece, and Phyllis (and David) Acey all of Somerset; multiple nieces and nephews; several great nieces and nephews and two special boys, Madison Phelps, and Mikal Abshear who he loved as his own.Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by; one sister, Nancy Blevins; four brothers, Lloyd, James, Leotis and Jerry Ray Blevins and one brother-in-law, Jimmy Burkett.David was a Vietnam Army Veteran. He was very proud to have served his country. He was employed by Southern Belle Dairy, was proud to have served as a past Council Member for the City of Somerset. He was also employed by the City of Somerset, and by the Pulaski County School System where he was a bus driver. He was an active member of the Pitman Creek Baptist Church and he loved his church family. He was a kind and fun loving person who will be deeply missed by all who knew him and he leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn his passing. The family would like to thank the following individuals for acting as pallbearers, Zackery Blevins, Zachary Berry, Cory Lowe, Madison Phelps Rodney Spaw, and Randy Spaw. An honorary pallbearer will be Mikal Abshear.A funeral service for David Blevins will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 23, 2019 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. David Baker and Bro. Bruce Blevins officiating. Burial will follow in the Beech Grove Cemetery.The family of Mr. Joel David Blevins will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home Friday, March 22, 2019 from 5 to 9 p.m.Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family of Mr. Blevins during this time.
