Jil Elaine Yahnig Swearingen, age 63 of Somerset, Kentucky passed away August 23, 2019 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center following a brief illness.

Jil was born in Somerset, Kentucky on November 13, 1955; daughter of Frederick Eldon and Jane Godby Yahnig, both of whom preceded her in death.

Jil retired from Somerset Community College after 41 years of service. Jil worked avidly as the facilitator of Kids Kollege, Continuing Education Program, and instructional leader of many local business training classes. Jil was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.

Jil is survived by her husband, Kenneth L. Swearingen, whom she married on August 6, 1976; her son, Jared Sean Swearingen; and mother-in-law, Juanita Swearingen. Other survivors include her sisters, Joy Ella & (Arvle) Flynn, Joni Emily & (Stephen) Wardlow, Julie Elise & (Ted) Adkins, Jody Enger & (Donnie) Shadoan; nieces and nephews, Jan Mikkel Jasper, Mikki & (Frank) Jones, Kristen & (Kris) Gibson, Aarika & (John) Neal, Jesika Wilburn, Jon Douglas & (Melanie) Wilburn, Brianna & (Taylor) Morgan, Dustin Adkins, Jeffrey & (Beth) Isaacs, Kiki & (Randy) Brinson, Brandy & (Josh) Hatfield, Ann Shadoan, Andy Shadoan, Sara Shadoan, and Keaghlan (and Chad) Cook, and Kayla (and Jake) Ramirez.  Also surviving is an uncle Jimmy & (Faye) Godby of Independence, Kentucky, a sister-in-law, Tonya Yahnig, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Besides her parents, Jil is preceded in death by a sister, Jan Elizabeth Yahnig; a brother, Jeffrey Eldon Yahnig; a sister-in-law, Marcella Ann Patterson; father-in-law, Lester Swearingen.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home.

Burial will be in Tanner Cemetery.

Visitation for Jil Swearingen will be after 12:00 PM Tuesday, August 27, 2019 until time for funeral services.
