Jeanetta Jo Gravil Alford, 75, of Somerset, KY and Murfreesboro, TN, passed away January 3, 2025 at the Hospice Care Center of Lake Cumberland.

Jeanetta was born September 1, 1949, in Segal, KY. She was the ninth of ten children of Christopher Columbus (“Lum”) and Mae Whobrey Gravil. She was a graduate of Edmonson County High School and attended Western Kentucky University where she received a Secretarial Science Certificate. Afterward, she worked for Governor Louis B. Nunn in Frankfort and Peat,
Marwick, Mitchell & Co. Partners CPA firm in Louisville. She and her husband, James (Jim)Alford met on a blind date in December 1974, and they were married on May 15, 1975. A
devoted wife and mother, she lived with her husband and two children in Lexington, KY until 1982 when she moved with her family to Tennessee. She worked for Kelly & Jones Law Office in Hendersonville and Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro. After living in Tennessee for thirty-nine years, she and her husband moved to Somerset in November 2021.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 50 years, Jim; two daughters, Jamie Alford of Versailles, KY and Jennifer (John) Robinson of Somerset; three grandchildren, Brooke
Robinson, William Robinson, and Jacob Robinson; two brothers, Ron (Shelia) Gravil of Smiths Grove, KY, Chris (Melody) Gravil of Alvaton, KY; a brother-in-law, Ruben Morris of Brownsville; a sister-in-law, Sandra Aaron of Lakeland, FL; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Alford was preceded in death by her parents, Christopher and Mae Gravil, her sisters, Oleta
Woodward, Olene Miles, and Beatrice Morris, and her brothers, Herbert Gravil, Bertrand (Bert) Gravil, Trenton Gravil, and Troy Gravil.

A longtime member of the Church of Christ, Mrs. Alford enjoyed teaching Bible classes for children and ladies. Having survived previous bouts of cancer beginning in 1995, Jeanetta started a Hope Support Group in Murfreesboro, TN to help others who were dealing with various illnesses or those who wanted to improve their health through natural and biblical methods. She produced a DVD in 2008 that documents her own natural health journey. Jeanetta enjoyed working with flowers and spending time with her family and friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, January 11th at 3 PM at the Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset. Visitation will begin at 1 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Hospice Care Center of Lake Cumberland in Somerset, KY.
