Herbert New, Jr.

Herbert New, Jr., 83, of Somerset, passed away Monday, July 27, 2020 at Cumberland Nursing & Rehab.

He was born in Somerset, Kentucky on August 2, 1936; son of the late Herbert New, Sr. and Marie Nicholas New. He retired as a group leader from General Motors. He was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sharon Evans New who he married on May 16, 1986; a daughter, Debbie & (Mark) Isaacs of Somerset; grandchildren, Hannah & (Tucker) McAlpin of Somerset, Haley Isaacs Hall & (Riley) of Nicholasville; a great-grandchild, Lennon McAlpin; his siblings, his twin sister, Jean Rollins of Somerset; Clarence & (Coco) New of Louisville, Roland & (Sally) New of Somerset; a sister-in-law, Patti New of Richmond; step-children, Curtis Menzies and Kim Peickert both of Michigan; two step-grandchildren, Riley Peickert and Destiny Peickert.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Larry New.

A private service will be held.

Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Oak Hill Baptist Church building fund, 2135 Oak Hill Road - Somerset, Kentucky 42503.
