Gary W. Boss, 80, of Bronston, Kentucky passed away on December 5, 2024 at the Landmark of Lancaster in Lancaster, Kentucky.
He was born November 8, 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky, the son of the late Edward F. and Mary Ann Bell Boss.
He married Mary Vaughan Humble Boss on April 5, 1964 at the First United Methodist Church, Somerset, Kentucky and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Allison Boss (John) Fraley of Bronston and two grandsons, Foster Wayne Fraley and John Blake Fraley; one brother, Rev Dr. Bruce (Virginia) Boss of Georgetown, Ky, one sister-in-law, Mary Lou Boss of Winchester, Kentucky, three nieces, Heather (Brian) Roach, Jennifer York and Tabitha Geers; five great nieces and three great nephews.
In addition to his deceased parents, he was pre-deceased by his older brother, Edward Walter Boss.
Gary’s entire professional life centered around aviation as he was the youngest certified FAA mechanic in Kentucky at the time of his professional certification. His aviation expertise was well known nationally with customers across the United States. In addition to his military service in the US Army and Kentucky National Guard, he was one of the original volunteer firemen when the Bronston Fire Department was organized, later serving as Fire Chief for many years and was a former Chairman of the Pulaski County Fire Commission and a Kentucky Colonel.
Gary was the last surviving member of the original seven families who founded St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church in Somerset which was first organized in his parents living room.
Visitation for Gary Boss will be held on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, 206 W. Columbia Street, Somerset from 11:00am – 1:00 pm. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00pm at St. Patrick’s with the Rev Dr Bruce Boss and Rev Mother Christine Brannock officiating.
In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy make take the form of donations to St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church, 206 W Columbia Street, Somerset, KY 42501 or to the donor’s charity of choice.
