Frieda Christine Wall Jasper passed from this life and received her heavenly reward on Monday, April 17, 2023 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital at the age of 94 years, 3 months, and 11 days.
Mrs. Frieda was born on January 6, 1929, the daughter of Edgar D. and Flossie Godbey Wall of Argyle, Kentucky. She was married to Tyler Edwin Jasper on February 15, 1947 and they were married for 72 years until Tyler preceded her in death on May 22, 2019. Frieda was the proud mother of three children: Marsha (and Ken) Wheeldon of Burkesville, Kentucky; Daryl (and Freda) Jasper of Mintonville; and Chris (and Mary) Jasper of Somerset, Kentucky. In addition, she had five grandchildren: Brian (and Angie) Wright of Lexington, Kentucky; Kirsten (and Ben) Dizney of Mintonville, Kentucky; Hilary (and John) Baker of Corbin, Kentucky; and Jon Tyler Jasper of Tampa, Florida. There are also three step-grandchildren, Kendra (and Danny) Watson of Marrowbone, Kentucky; Caitlyn (and Eric) Crowder of Somerset, Kentucky; and Christopher Moore of Nancy, Kentucky. In addition, Mrs. Jasper enjoyed seven great-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and one step-great, great grandson. She also leaves behind loved nephews Danny Roy, Gary Taylor and Steve Taylor, nieces Barbara Moore, Brenda Murphy, Peggy Clark, and Pat Jessee, and many other friends, neighbors and relatives who mourn her passing.
Along with her husband Tyler, Frieda Jasper was also preceded in death by her parents, and her sisters (Velma) Marie Dick, Emogene Roy, and Lucille Durham, and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Frieda began working at a very young age, doing laundry for neighbors, sometimes being paid by pieces of clothing they would give her for her or her sisters to wear to school. She quit school and moved to Cincinnati to work at a large commercial laundry there, living with relatives. Later, she completed her GED and her Nurse Aide certification, and worked at the Somerset City Hospital, later Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital, for several years. After she married Tyler Bill, she worked on the farm, raised her children, and then worked full-time, and also worked at GE manufacturing in Ohio for a short time. She left an unforgettable legacy of the value of hard, honest work. She worked hard for many years alongside her husband to build their dairy farm and his cattle herd, and working in her beloved church, Mintonville United Methodist Church, along with gardening, quilting, and finding ways to save money while providing generously to all her family. Her family was her greatest treasure and being with them was her greatest joy.
Frieda lived a deep and loving commitment to her Lord and Savior and to his Church. Her service to God included working with Tyler to serve their church and others. They raised their children in the Church throughout their 72 year marriage, leaving an example of Christlike service to the second and third generation.
