Freeda Murphy

Freeda Murphy, daughter of the late James Hiram and Dolly Isabelle Freeman Hall, was born in Burnside, KY on Monday, November 23, 1925 and she departed this life peacefully at her home in in Ferguson, KY on Tuesday, May 3rd, 2022 having attained the age of 96 years.

She was first united in marriage to Mr. Edgar D. "Jack" Phelps. He preceded her in death. She was later united in marriage to Mr. Kenneth Murphy, he also preceded her in death. Survivors include; one step-son, Randy (and Debbie) Murphy of Kingsport, TN; one stepdaughter, Yvonne Barbour (and Steve Mearns) of Seattle WA; one brother, Everett Hall of Falmouth, KY; one sister, Gayle Hale of South Carolina; one step-daughter-in-law, Darlene Murphy, three step-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Other than her parents, and two husbands, she was also preceded in death by one step-son, Kendall Murphy; three brothers, James Hall, Gerald "Jerry" Hall, and Vola Ray Hall; and and four sisters, Thelma Smith, Elsie Phelps, Juanita Sumpter and Della Stutler.

Freeda was a loving, caring Christian lady and a member of the Pitman Creek Baptist Church. She was a retired seamstress from Palm Beach Manufacturing, and she also loved being involved with helping people though Comfort Keepers. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and reading her bible. She was a kind lady who will be deeply missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives, special friends and church family who mourn her passing.

A funeral service for Freeda Murphy will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 9th, 2022 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. David Baker and Bro. Joe Cox officiating. Burial will follow in the Somerset Cemetery.

The family of Mrs. Freeda Murphy will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 8th, 2022.

In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Lake Cumberland, 100 Parkway Drive, Somerset, KY 42503.
