Frances Marie Sowder

Frances Marie Sowder, daughter of the late William and Olga Placke Bates, was born at Grundy, KY on Wednesday, July 01, 1931 and she departed this life on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 having attained the age of 88 years, 11 months, and 23 days. She was united in marriage to James Albert "Jack" Sowder on March 25, 1950. He preceded her in death. Survivors include; one daughter, Donna Marie Eaton of Somerset; five grandchildren, Deana Marie (and Jason) Skaggs of Jamestown, KY, Brian (and Crystal) Sowder of Somerset, Sara (and Adam) Gress of Jasper, IN, Wesley Elizabeth Sowder of Louisville, KY, and James Kelly (and Ashley) Sowder of Jasper, IN; eight great grandchildren, Jaycie Skaggs, Max J. Sowder, Nova Sowder, James Ryder, Gunner Stringer, Olivia Sowder, and Lee and Sage Gress; two brothers, Edward Bates of Louisville, KY and Johnny (and Freida) Bates of Riverview, FL; three sisters, Roberta Cundiff of Dayton, OH, Dorothy Gilliam and Edna Mae Compton both of Somerset, and a sister-in-law, Katie Bates of Somerset. Other than her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by; her son, Jimmy Sowder; her son-in-law, Myron "Bim" Eaton; five brothers, Alton, Shorty, Jeff, Robert, and Harold Bates; and three sisters, Leta Bobbitt, Ola Jasper, and Effie Callahan. Frances was a life long member of the Rock Lick Baptist Church, she was a kind lady who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. The family of Mrs. Frances Marie Sowder would like to publicly thank Comfort Keepers, Somerset Nursing and Rehab and Hospice of Lake Cumberland for all of their loving care during this time. A funeral service for Frances Marie Sowder will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 30th, 2020 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Rock Lick Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Sowder will receive friends from 12:00 noon. Tuesday until time for services. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family of Mrs. Sowder at this time.
