Edgar Wesley, born June 16, 1933, in Mintonville, Kentucky, to the late Cyrus and Lucy Belle Wesley, passed away peacefully on December 20, 2024, at the age of 91.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Tammie Wesley Hendren; six grandchildren: Jason Wesley, Justin Wesley, Jaime Wesley, Amber Dillman Silbernagel, Chad Dillman, and Bradley Hendren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Edgar was preceded in death by his loving wife, Verlene Tarter Wesley, whom he married on November 12, 1955. He was also preceded in death by his son, David Wesley; five sisters: Marie Pittman, Pearl Wesley, Armilda Thompson, Edith Dick, and Eva (who died in infancy); and two brothers, Edmond Wesley and Cyrus Wesley Jr.
Edgar proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for 9 ½ years. Throughout his life, he demonstrated a strong entrepreneurial spirit as the original owner, alongside Verlene, of Baskin-Robbins in Somerset, Kentucky, as well as the former owner of Treasure Chest Florist and the KOA Campground in Renfro Valley, Kentucky.
Edgar was a resident of Waitsboro Drive in Somerset, Kentucky, and cherished the time spent with his family and the many memories they created together.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on December 30, 2024, at Pulaski Funeral Home, officiated by Dr. French Harmon.
Burial will follow at Mill Springs National Cemetery. Visitation will take place on December 29, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Pulaski Funeral Home. Military Honors will be conducted by the American Legion Post 38 .
Edgar’s life was one of love, hard work, and dedication to his family, and his legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
