Dortha “Dorothy J” Flynn Johnson age 88, formally of the Ruth Community in Somerset passed away December 15,2021 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was born May 30, 1933, in the Cherry Grove Community to John Wilson and Mary Jane Hargis. Dorothy was a graduate of Shopville High School in 1950, after graduation she began working at The Goodall Factory and continued her work there for 40 plus years until she retired from the then Palm Beach Company. Dorothy made many lifelong friends working at Palm Beach and she enjoyed eating at local restaurants with her fellow retirees monthly. Before the Covid pandemic, Dorothy was a very active 88-year-old until her passing, enjoying lunch with friends and family, walking at the mall, meetings with Senior Friends, exercise with Silver Sneakers and attending church at Liberty Baptist. Dorothy had a green thumb and enjoyed working in her flowerbeds, cooking, baking, and snuggling with her cat Snowball. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Dorothy’s calm, no-nonsense, I can take care of myself attitude will be missed by all who knew her. Dorothy is survived by her three daughters: Patricia Crow Casada (Eddie), Charlotte Pennigton Corder (Jeff) and Christy Newell (Al). She is also survived by her grandchildren Brian Crow (Beverly), Cindy Crow Evans, Mallory Newell, Trey Newell, and her bonus grandson Cody Casada. Several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Dorothy is also survived by her nephew Michael (Bernice) Hargis and a stepdaughter Becky Long (Quincy) of Miamisburg, OH. She was proceeded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law (Fred and Ola Hargis), husbands Archie Flynn and Jesse Johnson, a great grandson Michael Raether, and two sons in laws Jerry Pennington and Barry Crow. Visitation will be held Sunday afternoon December 19, 2021, from 2-4 at the Chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home. Funeral will immediately follow with Brother Adam Evans officiating. Interment will be at Mill Springs Cemetery, Monday at 12:30 with close family. The family requests in lieu of flowers please make donations to our Somerset Hospice, who lovingly helped Ms. Johnson transition to Heaven.
