Dorothy Jean Cheuvront, 86, died on November 18, 2023. Jean was born on June 10,1937,in Clarksville, Missouri, the daughter of AJ and Velma Mackey. She is survived by her husband, Garland, daughter Vicki Goode (Darrell), son Allan (Robyn), grandsons Mackey Godby, Shea (Ashley) Cheuvront, Andrew Godby, and Cameron Cheuvront, and great-grandchildren Alec Godby, Ben Godby, Cameron Johnson, Olivia Britton, Thompson, and Anderson Cheuvront and a host of brothers and sisters- in- law, nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson, Joshua Godby, and her sister, Judy.
Jean moved to Winchester, Kentucky in 1954 and graduated from Winchester High School in 1955. She married Garland on June 29, 1956; they were married for 67 years. They moved to Somerset, Kentucky in 1964 and made it their home until her passing. Jean enjoyed her time as a member of Somerset Junior Woman's Club, and was an American Contract Bridge Life Master. She and Garland joined FIrst Baptist Church of Somerset on February 14, 1965; Jean remained a member until her passing. As a faithful choir member, Jean was in nearly every performance of the annual Living Christmas Tree. She worked for Russell Holtzclaw MD but her love and calling was the work done in her home. She was a talented cook and homemaker, and had a wonderful sense of humor. She loved sharing her gifts of both food and laughter with friends and family.
The family would like to say a special thank you to dear friend Stan Cole MD and to Sharon Reynolds and the staff at The Neighborhood for the care and love that was given to Jean and family.
The family of Mrs. Dorothy Jean Cheuvront will receive friends at First Baptist Church of Somerset from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Monday, November 27th, 2023. Funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor Ryan Coffey and David Pendley officiating.
Entombment will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to the First Baptist Church Choir or the Alzheimer's Respite Center.
