Doris Phelps

Doris Jean (Miller) Phelps, age 81, of Somerset, KY departed this life on April 14, 2024 at Hospice of Lake Cumberland Jean Waddle Care Center.

She was born on December 29, 1942 in Pulaski County, KY, to the late James Wesley and Leora Maxine Stewart Miller. Doris married Willard Lee Phelps on June 14, 1969, and they shared 43 years together before he passed away in 2013. Other than her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by one brother, Donnie "Don" Lee Miller.

Doris was a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University and was employed by the Pulaski County Board of Education as a teacher at Shopville Junior High and Elementary for 29 years. She was also a member and lifelong attendee of the East Somerset Baptist Church and her church family was extremely important and special to her.

She is survived by her two daughters, Tonya & (Gary) Lamar and Gretchen & (Dr. Steve) DeMunbrun, both of Somerset, KY. She was also a devoted grandmother to her five grandchildren, whom she adored; they are Alexander DeMunbrun of Louisville, Shelby Lamar Mills & (Zachary) of Lexington, Holly DeMunbrun & (fiancée Cory Ikerd) of Somerset, Wesley Lamar of Somerset, and Eric DeMunbrun of Louisville.

She was a kind person who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She leaves a host of relatives, friends, and church family who mourn her passing.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, April 20, 2024 in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Darvie Fenison officiating.

The family of Mrs. Doris Phelps will receive friends at Pulaski Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM Friday, April 19, 2024 and from 9AM until time for services on Saturday, April 20th.

Burial will follow in the West Somerset Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to East Somerset Baptist Church.
