David D Barnett

David D. Barnett, 86, of Somerset, passed away Friday, May 20, 2022 at the Jean Waddle Care Center.

He was born in Mt. Victory, Kentucky on November 2, 1935; son of the late Alex "Alec" and Nellie Mae Jones Barnett. He worked as a Coal Miner, where he was a dozer operator. He enjoyed putting handles in axes and hammers, and spending time in the blacksmith shop. He had a special love for children, animals, and a great love for story telling.

He is survived by his daughters, Judy Asbery; and Mary Barnett & (Jamie Blackburn); grandchildren, Joseph Asbery, Cyrus Barnett, Evan Blackburn, and Kody Blackburn; great-grandchildren, Harley Preston, Joey Preston, Layla Lamb; a special daughter, Bethany Richardson; a special nephew, Allen Hannah; siblings, Lucy Merrick, Netty Harper, Thelma Jean Randall, and Denton Barnett.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Elaine Dykes Barnett; parents, Alex "Alec" and Nellie Mae Jones Barnett; siblings, Edith Hannah, Betty Inabnitt, and Doug Barnett; a son-in-law, Bill Asbery.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home with President Todd Barton officiating.

Burial will be in Acorn Cemetery.

The family will receive friends after 11:00 AM Tuesday until time for services.

The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
