Cordell Eldridge, age 86, was born on June 21, 1932 in Squib, Ky to the late Luster B. and Tressie V. Whitaker Eldridge and went to his eternal home in heaven on December 18, 2018. He married the love of his life, Betty Ann Duncan on November 23, 1954 with whom he shared 62 precious years until her death on January 22, 2017. They were devoted to each other, were best friends, and one was rarely seen without the other. He was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran and served his country during the Korean War. He loved the Lord, gardening, and time spent with his family. He delighted in telling his grandchildren and great-grandchildren corny "Grandpa" jokes, playing pranks, and doing magic tricks for them. He taught himself to play piano and guitar by ear and he sang tenor in church and as a member of a quartet for over 20 years. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church, where he was saved and baptized many years ago. Our loss is truly great but is heaven's gain. As much as he dreaded leaving his family, he looked forward to his home-going.Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his three brothers: James Lewis (J.L.), Murrell, and Lee Bertram Eldridge; his stepfather Arvil Burdine whom his mother married after the death of his father; three nephews: Mike, Bobby, and Kenny Eldridge; and a grandson in law Doug Whitaker, whom he loved as his own grandson. He is survived by his daughters: Tressia Jane (Eugene) Loveless and Carmen Ann (Mike) Pfaffinger; grandchildren: Sara Whitaker, Jennifer Wilkerson, Emily (Tennaye) Flynn, Marty (Jessica) Wilp, Suzanne (Scott Combs) Wilp, Brett Pfaffinger, and Sara Pfaffinger; great grandchildren: Bailey, Kylie, and Grayson Whitaker, Blair Wilkerson, Peyton and Jackson Wilp, and Julian and Teagan Combs. He also had nephews, a niece, great nephews and nieces, and a host of other family and friends who were special to him. Visitation will be Friday, December 21, 2018 from 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM followed by the funeral service at 4:00 PM. Interment will be on Monday, December 24, 2018 at Mill Springs National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to help fund research to find a cure for ALS, Gideon Bibles, or the Lottie Moon Christmas offering which supports foreign missionaries appointed by the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Convention.Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be assisting the family of Mr. Cordell Eldridge at this time.
