Clifford Morris Payne, having attained the age of 84 years went to his heavenly home on March 2, 2018 at his residence in Somerset, Kentucky. Clifford accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age.Clifford was born December 31, 1933 to the late Chester & Nannie Barbara Payne in the Bimble community of Knox Co., Kentucky. After high school graduation, he joined and served in the U.S. Navy from 1952-1955. Clifford attended Union College in Barbourville, Kentucky from 1955-1957 where he graduated with a BA degree in business.In 1953, Clifford met and married Irene Lay of Little Brush Creek in Artemus, Kentucky. This union produced three children; Sandra Kay Doebler and Brian Scott Payne both of Somerset, Kentucky and Randall Glen Payne of Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. They were blessed with two grandchildren; Brandon Doebler of Somerset, Kentucky and Brittany Doebler of Bowling Green, Kentucky.Clifford worked at South Kentucky RECC, Somerset Kentucky, as director of Administration and Chief financial officer and retired from there in 1996. Clifford enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Bryan; a sister, Nola (Oliver) Williams, both deceased, a brother, Glen Payne; and Harold (Aline) Payne, of Cincinnati, Ohio; and a nephew, Ted Williams (deceased). Clifford is survived by his sister; Evelyn (Bob, deceased) Miller of Spring Valley, California and several nieces and nephews. Clifford was a devoted and loving husband, father and friend. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He will be especially missed by his family, his two loving grandchildren and two faithful dogs, Coco and Chanel.A funeral service will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, March 6, 2018 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Mickey Winter and Bro. Stephen Griffis officiating. Burial will follow in the Lay Cemetery (Little Brush Creek) in Artemus, Kentucky.The family of Clifford M.
