Carmen Christeen (Nolan) Poynter, daughter of the late John Grant Nolan and Nancy Drucilla Nolan, was born in Richmond, KY on March 31, 1926 and departed this life on February 18, 2019 92 years old at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Poynter (1915 – 2001) with whom she was united in marriage on February 7, 1945. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Geraldine Simpson (married to William (Bill) Simpson). She is survived by her son, Wayne (Joyce) Poynter of Somerset, KY; her daughter, Precilla (Cecil) Stogsdill of Somerset, KY; her daughter Betty (Gary) Walker of Roachdale, IN; her daughter Sarah Lark of Danville, IN; her son, Stephen Poynter of Somerset, KY; and her daughter Sue (Troy) Hill of Burnside, KY. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 1 sister, (Margaret Whitaker) and 2 brothers (Major Leon Nolan and Johnny Nolan).
Christeen was a long-standing member at Nelson Valley Baptist Church located in Somerset, KY. She was a graduate of Mt. Victory High School. She worked at Palm Beach for over 28 years.
Christeen was a dedicated loving mother, wife, and sibling. God and family were priority in her life. She enjoyed church and gospel singing's. Some of her favorite things were spending time with family, gardening, sewing, canning, cooking, and flowers. She was affectionately referred to by her grandchildren as “treadmill granny”. She was a “friend” to all she met and compassionate to everyone.
Christeen was preceded in death by 6 siblings, 3 brothers (Harold, Henry "Jack", and Richard) and 3 sisters, (Catherine "Cat", Angelean, and Bernice).
Family and friends are welcome to attend visitation after 6 PM on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset, KY.
A funeral service will be held at 3 PM on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset, KY followed by burial at Poplarsville Cemetery.
Pulaski Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
