Charles Edward Bates

Charles Edward Bates, son of the late William and Olga Placke Bates, was born at Grundy, KY on January 14, 1939 and he departed this life on January 17th, 2022 having attained the age of 83 years.

He was united in marriage to Brenda Shewmaker Bates. She preceded him in death. Survivors include; two sons, David (and Terri) Bates of Simpsonville, KY and Kevin (and Daphne) Bates of Smithfield, KY; three grandchildren, Kadin, Isabella and Olivia; one brother, Johnny (and Frieda) Bates of Riverview, FL; two sisters, Dorothy Gilliam and Edna Mae Compton and a sister-in-law, Katie Bates.

Other than his parents, he was also preceded in death by five sisters, Frances Marie Sowder, Roberta Cundiff, Leta Bobbitt, Ola Jasper, and Effie Callahan; and five brothers, Alton, Shorty, Jeff, Robert and Harold Bates.

Edward was retired from Rexnord and Carrier Vibrating Equipment where he worked as a draftsman for over 35 years. He loved to fish, and he was an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats fan! He loved spending time with his brothers and sisters and his family in Somerset as often as he could.

A funeral service for Mr. Charles Edward Bates will be held at 12:00 noon. Saturday, January 22, 2022 at the Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Ed Amundson officiating. Burial will follow in the Rock Lick Cemetery. The family of Mrs. Charles Edward Bates will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. Saturday until time for services.
