Buddy Owings

Mr. Charles William "Buddy" Owings, son of the late Charles Warren and Elizabeth Doyle Owings, was born in Somerset, KY on Wednesday, July 13, 1927 and he departed this life on Friday, July 20, 2018 having attained the age of 91 years. He was united in marriage to Peggy Hughes Owings in 1952. She preceded him in death. Survivors include his special friend and companion, Pauline J. Phillips of Somerset, KY; one son, Scott (and Jodie) Owings of Somerset, KY; two grandchildren, Camron and Ashlyn Owings of Somerset and one sister, Sue F. Wright of Birmingham, Alabama. Other than his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by; two sisters, Elizabeth Owings Franklin and Peggy Owings Logan.Buddy was a member of the Langdon Street Baptist Church. He served in the Army Air Corp during World War II, and in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was a long standing Member of Somerset Lodge # 111 F & AM  and had just recently received his 65 year pin.Buddy was also a longtime employee and ultimately an owner of the Hughes Motor Company.  He was a kind person who loved life and his family, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him and leaves a host of relatives and friends who mourn his passing.A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 23, 2018 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens.The family will receive friends at the Pulaski Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. Monday until time for services.The family would like to thank the professional and caring staff of Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
