Betty Shortnacy

Betty Shortnacy, 87 passed away in Somerset, Kentucky on Monday, January 13, 2025.

She was was born June 4, 1937 to Albert and Edna Calhoun Nelson in Somerset, Kentucky. Her biography is one of a loving mother. The foremost thing that Betty's life evidenced was her love for God. She read the bible daily and knew its teachings which she showed in how she lived her life. She often started her own new complex projects around the house and yard. It was amazing what she could do with her own hands and creativity. Betty also had many different business ventures during her life including restaurants, retail stores, groceries and even giving swimming lessons. She was always the person in charge doing the Lord's work helping people. Her restaurants would always have a soup, beans, cornbread and a spiritual word for the homeless. She will always be remembered and loved by everyone who met her.

Betty Leaves behind one son; Don Ray Bryant, her grand children; Austin David Bryant, Blake Allen Bryant, Keenan Bryant, Mark Fitzgerald Bryant and Cullen C. Bryant, Her brother; Robert W. Nelson, two sisters; Wanda Wilson and Charlotte Elliot, one half sister Sandy Pitman as well as two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, the father of her children, Paul Bryant, one son; Douglass Dudley Bryant, a brother Ralph Nelson and one sister; Shirley Keller.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from 11:00 AM until time for service in the chapel of Pulaski Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM with Bro. Johnny Dunbar officiating.

Burial Will be in the Somerset Cemetery, Somerset, Kentucky.
