Betty Pettyjohn Vanhook, 88, of Somerset, Kentucky passed from this earth to reunite with loved ones in heaven on August 6, 2023.
Betty was born on December 8, 1934 in Casey County, Kentucky to Roscoe and Bessie Thomas Pettyjohn. She loved Jesus and gospel music as well as the fellowship as a member of the First Christian Church in Somerset, Kentucky. She continued in worship with Brother Joe Altman at the Bridge. She was known and admired during her life for her work ethic and strong desire help others. She loved being a farm girl and enjoyed being outside growing a garden and taking care of her animals. For over 40 years, it brought her great joy to care for several families in the Somerset area. Many became like family, especially Bill and Janice Turpen and Sheryl Polk.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Geanette Carman (Garry) of Cincinnati, Ohio and Hannah Delk of Wilmore, Kentucky; one son, C.P. Delk (Chris) of Lancaster, Ohio; two step-daughters, Linda Keith and Brenda Brashears of Bronston, Kentucky. She is also survived by her three cherished Grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn Stanley, Abigail Nilsson and Katie Nilsson; two Great-grandchildren, Clara Rose and Carter Wyatt Stanley. Her surviving siblings are Royce Pettyjohn of Cincinnati and Kay Woodrum (Jimmy) of Georgetown. She is also survived by many friends and relatives that will miss her resourcefulness, quick wit and kindness.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Bobby Lee VanHook; and seven siblings.
A private service for family and close friends will be held at Pulaski Funeral Home with Bro. Bill Turpen officiating.
Burial will follow at Goodwater Cemetery.
