Bessie Ann Molen Claunch, age 89, of Somerset, passed away on Friday, September 29, 2023 at her residence. Bess was born in Nancy, Kentucky on April 18, 1934, to the late Harry and Beatrice Pierce Molen. She was a 1951 graduate of Nancy High School and also attended the Rogers School of Business in Somerset. Bess was a member of Beacon Hill Baptist Church. She was a faithful viewer of the First Baptist Church of Somerset worship service in recent years.
On September 19, 1953, she married Joe Howard Claunch and they shared 60 years of marriage until his passing on February 23, 2014. Bess worked at home in the years after her children were born. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed gardening. As a young adult she worked in the office for The Somerset Refinery, Inc. where she met her husband. She is survived by her children: Jerry (Sue) Claunch, Connie (Jim) Woodall, and Lisa Claunch all of Somerset.
Bess is also survived by four grandchildren: Evan (Alison) Claunch, Jamie (Christy) Woodall, Joshua Woodall, and Jessica (Quentin) Woodall. She also is survived by eight great-children: Kennedy Woodall, Morgan Woodall, Kannon Taylor, Kolton Taylor, Kingston Randolph, Alex Norton, Natalie Claunch, and Anniston Claunch. She is also survived by several nephews and nieces. She treasured her relationship with each one.
Bess was preceded in death by her grandson, Jimmy Woodall, as well as her siblings: Juanita (Pete) Stigall, James (Shirley) Molen, and Charlie (Jennie) Molen.
Visitation for Bessie Ann Claunch will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM and Wednesday, October 4, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Pulaski Funeral Home in Somerset. Her funeral service will follow at 11:00 AM at the funeral home with her former pastor, Bro. David Bullock officiating. Burial services will follow at Pisgah Presbyterian Church cemetery in Somerset.
The family wants to extend a special thank you to her long-time primary care provider, Autumn Richardson, APRN; Lifeline Home Health Care nurses; Dr. Rachel Shelton and the staff of Lake Cumberland Wound Care Center; and the staff of Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
