Berniece (Flynn) Gholson, age 80, passed away December 31, 2020 at the Hospice facility located in Middletown, Oh. from complications due to the COVID-19. She was born in Somerset, Ky. on June 23, 1940 to Leland and Garnet Flynn, both now deceased. She had three sisters and one brother. Paul and sister Donna (Charlie) Brown are also deceased. Survivors are sister’s Carolyn (Max, deceased)Hughes, and Charlotte (Ron) Addington.
She first met and married Ron Pinson of Norwood, Ohio, then later in life met and married Earl Gholson of Somerset, Ky., both husbands proceeded her in death.
Berniece’s sons are Joseph Pinson, of Kentucky and Steve (Irene) Pinson of Lebanon, Ohio. Berniece had no children with her second husband Earl who she often said was the “true love of her life”! She had three grandchildren ( Adam, Marissa, and James ), six great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews that she loved very much.
Berniece was the type of person that loved everybody and never met a stranger. She never wanted to shake your hand because she always wanted a hug instead. Her hobbies included Bingo, Harness Racing and taking long drives in her car when she got bored setting around the house. But her greatest enjoyment I believe, was her time in Church. Her faith was her rock! The last few years she was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Lebanon, Ohio. She made many great friends there in just a few short years. Wednesday’s and Sunday’s were definitely her favorite days of the week.
Berniece was a graduate of Pulaski County high school. After graduation she moved to Ohio where she started her working career as a secretary. That’s where she met and married her first husband and raised her two sons. In 1976 she moved back to Somerset and went to work at Lake Cumberland Medical Center where she eventually retired after several years. After retirement she decided staying home was not for her so she decided to take a part time job at Fazoli’s where she worked with her mother (jokingly known as “the bread lady”). She eventually quit and became care taker of her mother after her father passed away. She continued doing that until her mother’s death in Nov. 2014. Berniece finally moved to Ohio to live with her son Steve in 2017. She lived there until her death.
Berniece definitely had many friends and a large loving family. She will be sorely missed by all!
