Leora (Foley) Prewitt, 96, beloved grandmother, great grandmother and sister, departed this life for her heavenly home on March 04, 2007 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, Kentucky. Leora was born January 27, 1911 in Garrard County, Kentucky to the late S.R. and Sarah Elizabeth McHargue Foley of Hackley, Kentucky.
She was united in marriage on December 24th, 1931 to the late Clellan Prewitt of Lancaster, Kentucky. From this union was born Jean Prewitt and Clell Dean Prewitt Godby. Both of her beloved daughters have preceded thier mother in death.
Leora was blessed with; two grandsons, David Howard Godby (and his wife Melodie Prather Godby), and Melvin McClellan "Mac" Godby (and his wife Jan Conley Godby). Leora had; five great-grandsons, Macky Godby, William David Godby, Christopher Lee Godby (and his wife Jamie Wesley Godby), Joshua Godby and Andrew Clay Godby; great-great-grandsons,include Alex Godby, Ben Godby and Chandler Wesley Godby. She loved her grandchildren so much, and she will be greatly missed by all. In addition, many loving cousins, nieces and nephews.
Leora leaves behind; two beloved sisters, Inis Foley Carter (and her husband, Baker Carter) of Somerset, Kentucky and Mary Ruth Broddus of Bloomfield, Kentucky. She also leaves behind; a very special friend, Doris Poynter of Somerset, KY. and she is also survived by: one uncle, Donald McHarque. She was preceded in death by; one sister, Ethel Mae Foley Sutton; and three brothers, Earl Foley, Paul Foley and George Foley.
Leora was also preceded in death by; her husband, Clellan Prewitt, founder of the Bank of Somerset (Cumberland Security Bank), Peoples Loan Company and Farmers Tobacco Warehouse.
From humble beginnings in Garrard County, Kentucky; Leora will be remembered for a strong will and work ethic. Working side by side with her husband, Clelland Prewitt, together they owned and operated several tobacco business thoughout North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. Leora was also involved in the Livestock Markets in Albany, Monticello, Somerset and Science Hill, Kentucky. She also was a retired co-owner of the Curiosity Shoppe located on Hwy. 80 in Somerset, Kentucky.
Leora accepted the Lord as her savior at Bethel Baptist Church in Garrard County, Kentucky. Her church always meant so much to her. She also was a member of the First Christian Church of Somerset, Kentucky. She loved her church and church family and will be greatly missed by all.
Leora will always be remembered for her quick witt and smile. She was always there for her family and friends. Leora was a blessing to so many and will be joyfully remembered as we celebrate her life.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 07, 2007 at the First Christian Church
of Somerset, Kentucky located on Hwy 39. Burial will follow in the Lancaster Cemetery at Lancaster, Kentucky. The family of Leora Prewitt will receive friends and family at the Pulaski Funeral Home after 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 06, 2007 and at the First Christian Church of Somerset after 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 07, 2007 until after services. Pulaski Funeral Home is honored to be entrusted with all funeral arrangements.
