Mrs. Evelyn Burton, daughter of the late Harrison and Monica Goldson Calhoun, was born in McCreary County, KY on September 10, 1927 and she departed this life on Sunday, February 25, 2007 at her residence following a lengthy illness.
She was united in marriage to Mr. Dexter Burton on February 16, 1946, he preceded her in death. Survivors include; two daughters, Judith Ann Miller and her husband, Gary of Ferguson, KY and Glenda Sue Branscum and her husband, David also of Ferguson, KY; three grandchildren, Michelle Godby and her husband Rev. Darin Godby of Ferguson, KY, Amy Litton and her husband Jeremiah of Science Hill, KY and Emily Belanger and her husband Vincent of Wake Forest, N.C; six great grandchildren, Aaron Litton, Ashton Litton, Sandrina Godby, Nicolas Godby and Luke and Owen Belanger and a special thanks to Rennie Rankin, Julie Godby and Judy Phelps.
Other than her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by; three brothers, Floyd, Arnold and Alfred Calhoun; and four sisters, Alice Burrell, Myrtle Gregory, Letha Bright and Gladys Beatty.
Evelyn was the Co-owner of Somerset Scrap Metal in Ferguson, Kentucky and a member of the Science Hill Nazarene Church. She was a Sunday School teacher,NWMS President and NYI President. She was a kind lady who will be deeply missed by all who knew her and she leaves a host of relatives and friends who both mourn her passing and celebrate her homegoing.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the Chapel of the Pulaski Funeral Home with Rev. Darin Godby, Rev. Gene Wells and Rev. Bob Hoots officiating. Burial will follow in the Lakeside Memorial Gardens. He family of Mrs. Evelyn Burton will receive friends after 6:00 p.m. Monday, February 26, 2007 at the Pulaski Funeral Home and after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at the Pulaski Funeral Home until after services.
